The Penguin

The origami penguin is one of my personal favorite origami models, and it is also rather simple and quick to fold. For best results, make it from a sheet of paper that is black on one side and white on the other. 

Step 1: Start with your piece of paper color side up and oriented diagonally


Step 2: Valley fold the top corner to the bottom and crease


Step 3: Valley fold the right corner to the bottom corner


Step 4: Unfold the paper completely


Step 5: Valley fold the right corner to the center


Step 6: Valley fold the top corner to the bottom


Step 7: Valley fold the bottom corner up at the same angle as in the picture (fold the tip about to the crease line)


Step 8: Turn the model over


Step 9: Valley fold the bottom corner up at the same angle as in step 7


Step 10: Turn the model so the long point points to the top


Step 11: Valley fold the top point down. This will become the beak, so pick your own angle.


Step 12: Crease and unfold


Step 13: Mountain fold the same point at the same angle as in step 11


Step 14: Crease and unfold


Step 15: Inside reverse fold the top point down and your penguin is complete!

The basketball hoop is a fun and interactive model. Once made, just crumple some paper into a ball and start shooting (you can also make a crumpled ball ). It can be made from either origami paper or printer paper. If you make it from origami paper, it won't be as tall, and won't stand up as easily, but it will still work. I would recommend making it from printer paper though. Also, it might fall over when being used, so just put a book or something behind it and it will stay up fine. Step 1: If you're using printer paper, orient it vertically. If you're using origami paper, make a  waterbomb base  and then skip to step 9. Origami Dragon (harder)

The dragon is my favorite origami model but it is definitely not a beginner model. To fold it, you need to be able to petal, squash, sink, valley, and reverse fold. If you can't do all of  these folds, refer to the  folds  post. Step 1: Fold a  bird base  and have the separate points at the bottom Step 2: Valley fold the top point down Step 3: Mountain fold the top point down around the back Step 4: Valley fold the top point to the middle crease line, crease, and unfold Step 5: Now open the paper and sink fold the tip down. You will see a small square in the middle... ... and pinch the edges a little to define them... ...now press the center point down to 'sink' it It should look like this: Step 6: Valley fold the top layer on the right to the left Step 7: Valley fold the bottom point up Step 8: Valley fold point A to point B (refer to pic above) Step 9: Repeat steps

Oragami Inflatable Frog

The inflatable frog is a traditional Japanese origami model. It is a rather common model, but it's only one of many origami frogs out there. It is a rather advanced model, requiring squash and petal folds to make the base, and reverse folds to form the frog. It inflates, but is folded from a frog base rather than a waterbomb base. Step 1: Fold a  frog base Step 2: Valley fold the bottom right and left edges to the center Step 3: Repeat step 2 on the other three parts of the frog base  Step 4: Valley fold the top layer of the bottom two points up Step 5: Crease and unfold Step 6: Inside reverse fold the flaps up Step 7: Valley fold the two bottom points remaining out to their respective sides Step 8: Crease and unfold Step 9: Inside reverse fold the flaps Step 10: Now make reverse folds to form the arms and legs (use the picture below to know where to make your folds) Step 11: Blow into the litt
