The Squid Plane
This airplane version may look complex, but in reality it is no harder than the other versions of airplanes on this blog. Even though it looks more impressive than other kinds, it actually doesn't fly as well, so if you want an airplane to fly well, try a different one. However, it still looks fancy.
Step 1: Start with a blank sheet of white paper (8.5 by 11) and orient it horizontally
Step 2: Valley fold the top to the bottom
Step 3: Crease and unfold
Step 4: Valley fold the top right corner so the edge aligns with the center
Step 5: Valley fold the bottom right corner likewise
Step 6: Turn the whole thing over
Step 7: Valley fold the far right top to the center. This will bring out the flap underneath. Make sure that the triangular flap is visible.
Step 8: Repeat step 7 on the far bottom right edge
Step 9: Valley fold the tip of the plane that is furthest to the right so the square that it used to be part of is cut in half
Step 10: Valley fold the bottom to the top along the center crease line
Step 11: Valley fold the top edge down as shown below. Feel free to experiment with the angle.
Step 12: Turn over and valley fold the top edge at the same angle as in step 11
Step 13: Unfold the wings about halfway and your airplane is complete!
