Origami Sailboat

Image
The sailboat is an easy beginner model that doesn't require much time or know-how to fold. Unfortunately, it won't sail because it is just a sailboat silhouette. If you want to fold a boat that floats, try the  sampan  instead. However, it's still a good-looking model that's fun to fold and stands up on its own. Step 1: Start with your paper color side up Step 2: Fold the top left corner to the bottom right Step 3: Unfold and turn over Step 4: Fold the top to the bottom and unfold, then fold the left to the right and unfold (basically precrease so you have horizontal and vertical lines) Step 5: Rotate the paper 45 degrees Step 6: Fold the top and bottom corners into the center Step 7: Fold the bottom edge up to the top Step 8: Take the bottom left corner and push it up while opening up the top slightly (see next 3 photos)  It should look like this: Step 9: Repeat step 8 on the other sid

Another use for Origami

A lot of people consider origami to be almost worthless and a waste of time. I'd have to disagree. It not only can be fun, but it has other uses. A lot of times throughout my schooling, I've had to make models of things. However though, I'm one of those people who always cringes when the teacher wants you to make a model. So last time I was asked to make a model, I decided to do it with origami, since its easier, cheaper, and less time consuming. For this specific project, I had to design a mythical creature and then make a model of it. I started by folding the  advanced dragon . After this, I cut some red paper in the shape of flames. To make it look better, I opened the top of the head and tucked the paper inside. I then used a little bit of glue so it would stay. Here's what it looked like: To add some uniqueness to it, I folded a  dragon head  from a tiny sheet of paper. I then took a toothpick and poked a small hole in the back of the head an

Origami Basketball Hoop

The basketball hoop is a fun and interactive model. Once made, just crumple some paper into a ball and start shooting (you can also make a crumpled ball ). It can be made from either origami paper or printer paper. If you make it from origami paper, it won't be as tall, and won't stand up as easily, but it will still work. I would recommend making it from printer paper though. Also, it might fall over when being used, so just put a book or something behind it and it will stay up fine. Step 1: If you're using printer paper, orient it vertically. If you're using origami paper, make a  waterbomb base  and then skip to step 9. Step 2: Valley fold the top left corner over (the top edge should align with the right side) Step 3: Unfold Step 4: Valley fold the top right corner over to the left edge Step 5: Unfold and turn the paper over Step 6: After you've turned the paper over, fold the top edge down so the creases lie on t
