Origami Sailboat
The sailboat is an easy beginner model that doesn't require much time or know-how to fold. Unfortunately, it won't sail because it is just a sailboat silhouette. If you want to fold a boat that floats, try the sampan instead. However, it's still a good-looking model that's fun to fold and stands up on its own.
Step 1: Start with your paper color side up
Step 2: Fold the top left corner to the bottom right
Step 3: Unfold and turn over
Step 4: Fold the top to the bottom and unfold, then fold the left to the right and unfold (basically precrease so you have horizontal and vertical lines)
Step 5: Rotate the paper 45 degrees
Step 6: Fold the top and bottom corners into the center
Step 7: Fold the bottom edge up to the top
Step 8: Take the bottom left corner and push it up while opening up the top slightly (see next 3 photos)
It should look like this:
Step 9: Repeat step 8 on the other side
Step 10: To make one sail smaller, fold the right sail down to the bottom...
...and fold it back up at an angle to create a smaller sail
Step 11: Take the bottom tip of the small sail and tuck it into the rest of the boat
It should look like this:
Step 12: Fold the bottom point up to the middle of the boat...
...and unfold it partway. This will enable your sailboat to stand on its own.
And you're done! Get ready to set sail!
Anchors away!
