The Dollar Sampan

Image
A sampan is a flat-bottomed boat, and this model is folded from a dollar bill. It is also my personal favorite 'moneygami' model. It is similar to the regular sampan  but the dollar bill's rectangular shape it makes it simpler. Step 1: Start with your bill oriented horizontally and have the face face up. Step 2: Valley fold the top half to the bottom Step 3: Valley fold the bottom up to the top  Now we'll work with just the top right corner... Step 4: Valley fold the corner diagonally Step 5: Valley fold the new edge up to the top layer Step 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 on the left side Step 7: Turn the model over and repeat steps 4-6 on this side Here's the tricky part. Now we're going to be basically reversing the model, starting with the left side. Step 8: Open up the layers and push the bill up so it reverses itself (take it easy so the bill doesn't rip)  keep opening... ...

Dollar Sunglasses

Image
These origami dollar sunglasses are a very neat model designed by Karen Bishop. The sunglasses make a great gift or tip for most occasions. It is an easy model that has only valley folds. Step 1: Start with George facing up (if you don't have a dollar bill on hand you can cut a piece of paper so it is 6.6cm by 15.6cm) Step 2: Valley fold the top to the bottom, crease, and unfold Step 3: Valley fold both edges into the center Step 4: Unfold just the bottom part Step 5: Valley fold the top left corner down so the corner touches the center line... ... like so: Step 6: Repeat step 5 on the right side Step 7: Valley fold the bottom corner up so it looks like the picture below Step 8: Repeat step 7 on the other side Step 9: Valley fold the bottom edge to the center Step 10: Valley fold both ends down  The two edges should barely meet in the center Step 11: Turn the model over and valley...

Dollar Pixie Shoe

Image
The dollar pixie shoe is a very cute little origami dollar model. It is not very difficult, and could be folded by a beginner. It is folded from a dollar bill, and if you don't have one, just cut a regular sheet of origami paper into a strip 16 by 6.5 centimeters. Dollar bill origami makes great tips at restaurants. Step 1: Start with your dollar bill oriented horizontally. It does not matter which side is face up, as it will not affect the end result Step 2: Valley fold it in half, crease, and unfold Step 3: Valley fold the top edge to the bottom Step 4: Valley fold the top edges down so they meet in the middle Step 5: Valley fold the top two edges again so they meet in the center (just like in the  airplane V.2 ) Step 6: Once it looks like this valley fold the right side so it aligns with the left Step 7: Rotate the model counterclockwise Step 8: Mountain fold point A back behind Step 9: Valley fold point ...
