Origami Witches' Claws

Image
These wearable origami witches' claws are the perfect addition to (almost) any Halloween costume. They are extremely easy, and it doesn't take long to fold enough for both hands. I folded mine from black construction paper to make them sturdier, but regular origami paper works fine too. Step 1: Orient your paper regularly. If you are using origami paper have the white side up. Step 2: Valley fold the top left corner down to the bottom right Step 3: Valley fold the top corner to the far left corner Step 4: Valley fold the top right edge down to the bottom edge Step 5: Valley fold the left tip over Step 6: Crease and unfold Step 7: Open the little pocket created by the fold in step 4 Step 8: Tuck the little tip from step 6 into the pocket Your witches' claws are now complete! To wear them, open the pocket from step 8 and just put your fingers in them. Ta-da!

Origami Slipper Chair

Image
The slipper chair is a very easy origami model. It is very similar to the  lantern , requiring only a couple more steps. The end product is a cute, doll-house worthy chair. Step 1: Start with a  blintz base Step 2: Turn the paper over and valley fold all four corners to the center Step 3: Turn the model over and valley fold all four corners to the center Step 4: Turn the model over (yes, again) Step 5: Squash fold the bottom square down by opening it up (see the  folds  post for squash fold help) Step 6: Squash fold the remaining squares out Step 7: Valley fold the top edge down Step 8: Unfold it partway Step 9: Mountain fold the other parts down and your slipper chair is finished!

Origami Lantern

The lantern is an easy origami model that beginners should be able to do with ease. It looks best when made out of any sort of light colored paper. Step 1: Start with a  blintz base Step 2: Flip the model over valley fold all the corners to the center Step 3: Turn the model over and valley fold all the corners to the center (yes, again!) Step 4: Turn the model over (again) Step 5: Open up the bottom square section and squash fold it down (see  folds  post for instructions on how to squash fold) Step 6: Squash fold the top square just like in step 5 to complete your easy lantern!

Origami Bat

Image
This easy origami bat is a great Halloween model designed by Nick Robinson. You can even attach a string to them hang your colony of bats for spooky, simple, and cheap decorations. Black paper makes the most convincing bats, but I used grey because it is slightly easier to photograph. Step 1: Start with your paper color side down Step 2: Valley fold the bottom corner up to the top Step 3: Valley fold the left corner over to the right Step 4: Crease and unfold Step 5: Valley fold the bottom edge about three-fourths of the way up Step 6: Valley fold the top corner down almost all the way It should look like this at the top: Step 7: Mountain fold the model in half along the center axis Step 8: Valley fold the far right flap (just the top one) up so it matches the angle in the picture below Step 9: Mountain fold the other right flap behind the model so it is at the same angle Step 10: Valley fold the lef

Dollar Sunglasses

Image
These origami dollar sunglasses are a very neat model designed by Karen Bishop. The sunglasses make a great gift or tip for most occasions. It is an easy model that has only valley folds. Step 1: Start with George facing up (if you don't have a dollar bill on hand you can cut a piece of paper so it is 6.6cm by 15.6cm) Step 2: Valley fold the top to the bottom, crease, and unfold Step 3: Valley fold both edges into the center Step 4: Unfold just the bottom part Step 5: Valley fold the top left corner down so the corner touches the center line... ... like so: Step 6: Repeat step 5 on the right side Step 7: Valley fold the bottom corner up so it looks like the picture below Step 8: Repeat step 7 on the other side Step 9: Valley fold the bottom edge to the center Step 10: Valley fold both ends down  The two edges should barely meet in the center Step 11: Turn the model over and valley
